The 2008 Undergraduate Deliberative Poll on Immigration Issues

During the Spring semester of 2008, the SRO worked in conjunction with the Center for State Policy and Leadership and the Office of Undergraduate Education in conducting a Deliberative Poll of UIS undergraduates on issues relating to immigration.

Over 600 students (n=615) participated in the 2008 UIS Undergraduate Deliberative Poll Project, nearly one-quarter of all UIS undergraduates (23%).

Nearly 500 students (n=487; 18.5%) completed the survey prior to the Deliberative Poll workshop. And over 300 (n=319, 12%) participated in the survey conducted during or after the Deliberative Poll Workshop. Forty (40) students participated in the Workshop deliberations.

As results become available, they will be posted on this website.

The Yearly Alumni Surveys

The SRO conducts the yearly surveys of one-year-out, five-year-out, and nine-year-out UIS graduates of UIS. Both bachelors and masters graduates are surveyed. The information is used by UIS administrators to monitor graduates' opinions with various aspects of UIS as a whole as well as by UIS programs in their periodic program reviews. Certain questions on these surveys are included in the alumni baccalaureate surveys of all public universities in the State. Results of these questions are reported to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Campus Climate Surveys (2006)

During the Spring and Fall of 2006, SRO conducted Campus Climate Surveys of students, faculty and staff, soliciting opinions and perceptions relating to diversity issues on the UIS campus. This project was conducted for the UIS Diversity Task Force, at the direction of the Provost.

UIS Staff Quality of Life Surveys (Fall 2005)

SRO personnel assisted the Campus Planning and Budget Committee (CPBC) with a Staff Quality of Life Survey. This initiative was led by CPBC member Deb Koua. Both civil service and academic professionals were surveyed. SRO personnel advised on questionnaire development, input response data, conducted the computer data analysis, and assisted with the final report.
