SPRINGFIELD – Public radio WUIS 91.9 FM will host the station's first-ever Passports Tour, a weeklong trip to Italy, May 16 - 23, 2007. Music Director Karl Scroggin will lead the group to stops in Florence, Tuscany, and Rome.

A special highlight of the trip will be a visit to the Maggio Musicale music and arts festival in Florence, including a concert featuring pianist Daniel Barenboim. Throughout the trip, participants will be able to take advantage of Scroggin's extensive knowledge of Renaissance music, art, and history.

Cost of the trip is $2,521 per person for those who sign up by October 31, or $2,621 after that date. The price includes round-trip transportation from Springfield; double occupancy in three-star, city-center hotels; admission at major attractions and concerts; a metro pass in Rome; and some meals.

An informational session will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 21, at the WUIS studios on campus at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Planet Travel is in charge of arrangements and a company representative will be present to answer questions.
