October 1, 2005 - Illinois Issues Holds 30th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago

Illinois Issues held a magnificent event in Chicago on September 30 to culminate its year of celebration of the 30th anniversary of publication of the magazine. The event was held at the Union League Club and included a luncheon panel moderated by former Governor Jim Edgar. Ed Wojcicki, past publisher, served as master of ceremonies. Executive Editor Peggy Boyer Long gave opening and closing remarks. A panel of rising stars in state government offered their thoughts on major policy challenges facing Illinios in the next 30 years. Panelists included Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Rep. Tom Cross, Sen. James Clayborne, Jr. and Rep. Susana Mendoza. The luncheon drew a crowd of 300 (see photo), some of whom stayed to attend Gov. Edgar’s press conference at which he announced his decision not to run for public office again.
