October 13, 2005 - Shirley Madigan Receives 2005 Motorola Excellence in Public Service Award

Shirley R. Madigan, Chair of the Illinois Arts Council, was presented with the 14th Annual Motorola Excellence in Public Service Award at a luncheon on October 12 at the Chicago Hilton. The award, which is co-sponsored by Illinois Issues and NORBIC (an economic development organization in Chicago), honors a non-elected public official employed by the City of Chicago, Cook County or State of Illinois, who has had a positive impact on the well-being of citizens through extraordinary leadership, teamwork and innovation. Mrs. Madigan was unanimously selected by a Blue Ribbon Committee co-chaired by Barbara Ferrara of the Center and comprised of business leaders, educators, public officials and past winners. Mrs. Madigan was selected to receive the award based on her passionate advocacy and record of achievement in advancing the arts in Illinois.
