2004 Lincoln Legacy Lecture

The UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership and Phillip Shaw Paludan, Distinguished Professor of Lincoln Studies at UIS, hosted the 2004 Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series at UIS. The series began on October 7 with Professor Mark Neely, Jr. from Pennsylvania State University speaking on “Civil Liberties in Lincoln’s Presidency.” Neely is a Pulitzer Prize winner for History in 1992. Professor Mark Summers from the University of Kentucky spoke October 14 on “The Politics of Patronage in Lincoln’s Era.” The series concluded with Professor William Miller from the University of Virginia speaking on “Lincoln’s Presidential Virtues” on October 21.
