2003 Lincoln Legacy Lecture
The inaugural Lincoln Legacy Lecture, “Lincoln and Race,” was held on
campus November 19, 2002 in conjunction with the dedication of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield. Featured speakers were Mary Frances Berry, chairperson of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, and Professor of American Social Thought, University of Pennsylvania; and
Phillip Shaw Paludan,
, Naomi B. Lynn Distinguished Chair of Lincoln Studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield. More than 300 persons attended the event which was also webcast live and broadcast later on both the Illinois Channel and Springfield Access 4.
