"Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation " is the theme of the 10th Annual Lincoln Legacy Lectures to be presented on October 11, 2012, 7-9 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium at UIS. Dr. Allen Guelzo, Director of Civil War Era Studies at Gettysburg College, will give a lecture titled "Four Roads to Emancipation." Author Ron Soodalter will present a lecture on "A Blight on the Nation: Human Trafficking and Slavery in America Today." Dr. Michael Burlingame, Lynn Distinguished Chair in Lincoln Studies at UIS, will serve as moderator. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. Students are encouraged to attend. Arrive early for best seating. Overflow seating will be available in Public Affairs Center Conference Room C/D . The Annual Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series is presented by the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership in cooperation with the Naomi B. Lynn Distinguished Chair in Lincoln Studies.
