Special Features

Aside from the traditional original research articles that will be the mainstay of the journal, the editor welcomes submissions of material for two special sections of SPPQ:

Field Review Essays
These essays will stake out a field, organize the problems that have been addressed, and lay out questions for future research. They will integrate extant research and set an agenda for a field. Topics that could be reviewed in this way include research on governors, state legislatures, state administrators, and state policy adoption, among many others.

The Practical Researcher
Edited by Associate Editor Donald P. Haider-Markel, University of Kansas, this is a service-oriented ection designed to provide a data, methodological, and assessment resource for those conducting research on state politics. This section will include essays describing major data collection projects, descriptions of important public databases and sources, and discussions of methodological issues that state politics scholars often encounter. Contact Professor Haider-Markel at prex@ku.edu to discuss submitting material to this section.
