DUI Service Provider Training Program

The Institute for Legal, Legislative and Policy Studies is a partner with the Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA) in offering a full service certification program for DASA licensed programs providing DUI services since its inception in 1987.

All persons who are qualified DUI evaluators must attend a Basic DUI Orientation Training session which is conducted through a fee-based training program designed and coordinated by the Institute training staff. An Advanced Series of DUI specific training seminars is offered each year for substance abuse providers seeking continuing education opportunities and certification credits. Topics of particular interest to substance abuse counselors and evaluators are provided in these sessions and include a yearly updated session for Risk Education instructors.

The DUI specific workshops offered by the Institute are designed to meet the training needs of Illinois DUI service providers including DUI evaluators, Risk education instructors, social workers, nurses, and substance abuse counselors. Court personnel who work with DUI defendants, such as probation officers and parole officers, can also benefit from these programs.

For more information on DASA/DUI workshops, please contact Jeri Frederick at the Institute for Legal, Legislative and Policy Studies, Center for State Policy and Leadership, University of Illinois at Springfield, 217.206.7985 or jfred1@uis.edu
