THIS CONFERENCE HAS ENDED
The Illinois Department on Aging is pleased to host the 31st Annual Governor’s Conference scheduled for December 12-14, 2012 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Please join us as leaders and experts in the field of aging share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and members of the Illinois aging network. This is our premier event, and we are extremely proud of the conference’s “inclusivity” this year. The presentations and agenda for the conference has been developed in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter, and the Illinois Department of Human Services - Division of Disability Services.
This collaboration is a natural outgrowth of our professional vantage points. After all, our work intersects with one another in reaching you, our respective program participants. We owe it to you and ourselves to better understand all the resources “out there,” to maintain dialogue with one another, and continually strive to improve the lives of Illinoisans from our various “angles.”
This year marks not only the culmination, but the continuation of a conference that has grown in national prominence; enjoys tremendous attendance; and, imparts new knowledge designed to help the elderly. The various tracks offered at the conference leave no voids. The tracks address mental and physical health, care giving, rehabilitation and more and reflect a more unified approach to our work and advocacy.
Conference attendees like you, who represent the network of service providers and advocates, are the critical component of the promise of help and hope. And, we are grateful and encouraged that you plan to make time for this conference. So, whether this is your first year of attending or your 31th, please know how vital you are to this conference. There is no way you will not learn something new or view something differently. Something will "click" in your conversations and eagerness to listen and learn. And, this all translates to more expertise at work.
It is extremely important work. Whether you are helping elders in long-term care facilities or those still residing in their community, I thank you for staying strong and remaining open to new possibilities. We have a wonderful conference platform to build upon. Thank you again for your presence.
