Training Programs-Probation and Detention Training

A partnership began in 1977 when representatives of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) and then Sangamon State University, now University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) met to discuss the possibility of moving the probation officer training program to the University.

Many changes have occurred since 1977 in probation and detention training in Illinois. The commitment to evidence based practices as the centerpiece of the training and the collaborative relationship between UIS and AOIC is strong and forward moving. The AOIC and UIS partnership is dedicated to continually improving the quality and effectiveness of probation and detention training in Illinois.
