Adult Probation Officer Training
The Basic training is a 40 hour skill based training that will be translated into practice while supervising adult offenders. As much as possible, the content of the course is research-based and the basic training themes are derived from the general model of corrections that has been described as What Works. The topics included in Adult Basic include:
- What Works
- Adult Assessment
- Differential Supervision
- Substance Abuse
- Ethics
- Interviewing Skills
- Enhancing Motivation
- Case Planning
- Evidence Basic Practices Treatment
- Case Presentations
Each participant table will be assigned a case they will work with in their small groups during the week with a presentation of their case to the larger group on the last day of training.
