Tom Ambrose, M.A., Senior Training Coordinator
Tom Ambrose, M.A., is a Senior Training Coordinator for the Institute for Legal, Legislative and Policy Studies. He is the Director of the Probation Training Project, which provides the mandatory 40-hour training for new adult and juvenile probation officers and new detention officers in Illinois. Tom is also the Project Director for the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety, DUI Court Training Project. The DUI Court Training Project provides training to prosecutors, states attorneys and judges on the evaluation, adjudication and supervision of DUI offenders, including the hard core drunk driving offender. Tom worked in social services for 25 years including 16 years in probation and court services. His previous work includes working as a therapist and as a hospital chaplain. He holds an M.A. degree from Sangamon State University in Child, Family, and Community Services. He has completed the Motivational Interviewing Training of Trainers with Miller and Rolnick.
