Scott Mills, B.A., Graduate Research Assistant
My name is Scott Mills and I was born and raised here in Central Illinois. I attended Taylorville High School and upon graduation I enrolled at SIU Edwardsville and majored in Business Administration. After a couple years at SIUE, I quickly realized that Business wasn’t my field and began to show an interest in politics.
I volunteered for Jim Ryan’s Gubernatorial election in 2002, and knew right away this is what I enjoyed doing. Since then, I have volunteered for several campaigns on the state and federal levels, most recently Judy Baar Topinka’s 2006 Gubernatorial run and Rudy Giuliani’s Presidential election. Even though these campaigns were unsuccessful, it was good experience and good for networking.
After realizing my passion was in politics and public policy, I enrolled at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) in the spring of 2005. I finished my BA in political studies in May 2006 and decided to earn a MA in political studies as well. I will earn my MA from UIS in May 2008.
After graduating from UIS I plan on attending either law school or going towards a second Master’s degree in public policy and administration. Some point in my future I may make my own run at political office, but that decision is years away.
